About this deal

Bringing the Foodi out of the box for the first time confirms what we expected – it is a large, heavy appliance. We look at the time it takes to drop after all three of our cooking tests and work out which ones are the quickest and slowest. All the removable parts (except the pressure cooker lid) are ceramic-coated, non-stick and dishwasher-safe. Please make sure it is turned as far as possible toward the SEAL position when pressure cooking and as far as possible toward the VENT position when quick releasing.

Ninja OP100UK review - Which? Ninja OP100UK review - Which?

If you’re willing to spend a little more on a slow cooker and looking for a premium model with extra functionality, you might like to look at our Ninja Foodi Mini 6-in-1 Multi-Cooker OP100U review. The idea of a pressure cooker could be intimidating for anyone who hasn’t used one, especially as the Foodi is multi-use, but there is plenty of information on what to do if this is your first time using an appliance like this. The screen is nice and clear to see as well, and it displays the times and temperatures to take the guesswork out of it all. In terms of appliances it’s the ultimate one-pot cooker – the kitchen equivalent of a swiss army knife. What we like most about the 'one-pot' aspect of an appliance like this is the fact that you can add ingredients as you go and end up with a complete meal. All settings were easy to select and the machine did what we asked of it, with no delays in response.

You have to wash it after every use, but the ceramic-coated, non-stick dishwasher-safe parts made this nice and easy. If you're looking to invest in a pressure cooker such as this model, you really do need ample space on the worktop in which to house it and make it a permanent fixture in your kitchen - as opposed to an appliance that you plan to hide away in the cupboard after use. It is definitely one of the clearest and most concise instruction books we have seen – and we are picky when it comes to this factor. We also check how heavy the pressure cooker is, how good the handles are for carrying and if there will be any issues. Before pressure cooking, we could make use of the Sear/Sauté setting to brown the chicken and onion, then we added the rest of the ingredients and switched to the Pressure Cook setting - choosing 25 minutes on high. Each recipe is rated by how easy it is in case you want something simple or a challenge, and there are timing breakdowns for things such as veg and whole chickens too.

Two methods of pressure drop include the natural method - where you leave the pressure cooker to drop back down to normal pressure naturally, or where you can release the pressure quickly, manually. Our honest opinion: Yes, definitely – if you have the workbench space to keep it, and you want something which can make mealtimes easier. Cooking times may vary based on the selected temperature, current temperature of the cooking pot, and temperature or quantity of the ingredients.

We fill each pressure cooker with water and measure energy consumption getting the pressure cooker up to maximum pressure and then back down, naturally. The pressure release valve’s loose fit is intentional; it enables a quick and easy transition between SEAL and VENT and helps regulate pressure by releasing small amounts of steam during cooking to ensure great results. We found its large capacity bowl a great size to add the ingredients and ensure everything was evenly places as opposed to being piled on top of each other. It is worth mentioning that the instruction booklet is also pretty top-notch, with all parts explained, steps written out in detail and handy little visuals. Especially when compared to how much effort either it is to make by the more traditional means (think several pans/constant monitoring), the Ninja Foodi is ridiculously easy to use, and there were no hiccups whatsoever.
